Royals Withstand Mariners' Comeback

The Corner Brook Royals earned a 5-3 win over the Port aux Basques Mariners Friday night at the Civic Center, but they were pushed to the limits by the suddenly resilient Mariners. The Royals took a 3-0 lead in the opening period, only to find themselves up by a single goal late in the third. The Mariners pushed hard for the equalizer, but Will Keating salted things away for the home team with an empty netter with 2 seconds left.

Goalie Bradley Power came up big for Corner Brook, especially in the final frame. He turned away 42 of 45 shots.

Ryan Roche and Nick Childs had a goal and 2 assists to lead the Royals. Captain Rob Parsons scored 2 for the Mariners, with Greg Edgar helping out with 2 set-ups.
